The department is equipped with 32 beds , 9 doctors (including 1chief physician , 3 vice chief physicians , 3 attending physicians and 2 qualified doctors ) , 12 nurses (8 chief nurses and 4 nurses ). Graduating from Medical Dept. of China Medical University in 1985 , acting as chief physician , member of ENT Branch of Liaoning Medical Association , member of standing committee of Liaoning Audiology Academy , chief member of ENT Branch of Dandong Medical Association , the First Famous Doctor of Dandong Health System ，Dandong Model Worker , Dandong Scientific and Technological Worker , Director Li Cheng was honored as Dandong 112 Talents Project Level Candidates.
The department is armed with a set of Pentex Electronic Laryngoscope made in Japan , 2 sets of fiberoptic pharyngorhinoscope made in Japan , a set of electronic acoustic impedance audiometer made in Denmark , an AEP made in Denmark , a sleep monitor made in China , a set of F-99 photoelectron imagining system made in Tianjin , a set of nasal endoscope surgical instrument made in Tonglu , an Nd:YAG laser therapeutic apparatus made in Hubei , a microwave RF therapeutic apparatus of ENT Dept. , a set of rigid bronchoscope , esophagoscope , an Leica microscope made in Germany, a low-temperature icon RF Ablation System made in the USA. . All the advanced equipment has played an important role in the diagnosis and treatment in the department.
As for Rhinology , we have taken the nasal cavity and sinus operations by the photoelectron fiber rhinolaryngoscope we created originally with satisfactory results , whose level has been advanced domestically identified by famous experts , through ten-year clinical application and summaries. Almost 4,000 patients with nasosinusitis, nasal polypus , partial anosmia , inverted papilloma of nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses ，diseases associated with noses , eyes and skull base have been treated.
As for pharynx and larynx , the postoperative survival rate laryngeal carcinoma radical operations including radical neck dissection , selective neck dissection , level and vertical hemilaryngeal ,3/4 laryngeal and its vocal rehabilitation have been up to more than 70% to greatly improve the patients’ postoperative survival qualities on the basis of radical operations.
We have taken many laryngostenosis dilatation and tracheoplasty by tracheal atresia hypolaryngeal carcinoma resection with varying degrees of success. According to different patients’ conditions , the operations on vocal cord polyp，vocal nodules can be taken by laryngofiberscope in case of lesion. The operations on and laser therapy with vocal cord nidus under microscope through suspension laryngoscopy integrated with international and domestic advanced technology are popular with the patients. In the past few years , the department have been devoting theirselves to researching the treatment with OSAHS , developing the therapies by microwave radiofrequency , laser and operation , analyzes carefully the obstructive plane of the upper airway to choose the different treatment , making the therapy of OSAHS precise , scientific and standardized , improving the curative effect with domestic advanced level.
As for Otology , they are developing the microsurgery , becoming involved in otoneurosurgery . During the treatment with tympanitis , they not only remove the lesion , but also take the tympanoplasty at all possible to improve the listening competence. Using the function of the high-grade surgical microscope , they develop the nerve decompression and GTME resection.
The department also carry out the thyroid carcinoma involving the throat and trachea radical operation , laryngic and tracheal reconstruction , breaking through the departed therapy forbidden areas and saving the patients’ lives once again.
As for Rhinology and Ophthalmology , they’ve fulfilled reduction of eyeball recession , decompression of optic canal , fenestration of lacrimal sac and nasal cavity by photoelectron fiber rhinolaryngoscope in the past few years , reducing the patients’ injury to a large extend in comparison with the traditional surgery . The departed facial cut has been changed into intranasal cavity minimally invasive surgery , keeping the facial appearance and heightening the patients’ prognosis satisfaction .
As for emergency surgery , they’ve saved lots of critical patients with tracheal ，bronchial , esophagus foreign bodies, larynx obstruction , receiving the patients’ and their relatives’ high praise with more than 98% success rate.
In the past few years , the whole doctors and nurses of the department have been studying assiduously . The doctors and nurses study outside and attend the seminar every year. The department have received a first prize and a third prize of Dandong municipal science and technology award , a first prize and a second prize of Dandong Health Bureau science and technology award , a first prize and a third prize of Dandong Health Bureau new technology application award and written 11 national class papers and 2 provincial class papers.
